A Family Room Re-do

Do you ever wish you could start over?
I mean, keep the same man and same kids that came along with that, but start over?  Like have another wedding?  With another theme?  Have a shower where people buy you amazing gifts?

I wouldn't ask for good china with a blue and gold rim.
(Been there, done that!)
I wouldn't ask for china at all.  I'd do white ironstone.
 And lots of it.
Isn't it interesting how your tastes change?
How you change?

We've officially lived in this house for 5 years... Wow.  We've never stayed in one place for so long.  We are comfy and cozy here.  We love the neighborhood, so we are staying.The trouble is, we were feeling like our house couldn't breathe.
Do you ever feel that way?
We wanted something unique and different when we moved here; so we painted out all the trim in a wet cement color.
Then... along came Pinterest.
{Man, that would be a great name for a blog!}
I started pinning all of this WHITE trim and rooms. Who knew I even liked white?  I thought I wanted to be different?
We have one of those family room dining room combos.  The table is behind the couch.  Or shall I say WAS?  Because ... drum roll please... we decided to change the front living room into a dining room.
This is the front room that I redid last year, hoping that SOMEONE would actually sit up there and use it.  I think my hubby did two or three times... {Thanks babe!}
But I'm getting ahead of myself.

5 years.  5 people. (3 of them getting bigger)
We needed more couch space.
We needed more breathing room.
We needed more WHITE!

I decided to have a yard sale and start over.
Yep.  A huge yard sale.
 We sold everything but the kitchen sink.  2 sectionals. Coffee Tables. Clutter. You name it, I slapped a "make offer" sign on it.
  And we started painting everything in sight.
My $10.00 thrifted desk is now sporting a Swiss Coffee cover.
A garage sale butler's table got the same.
The french doors and baseboards... Swiss Coffee.
I'm not painting the walls.  Two reasons:
I can't afford to pay someone to do it.
I don't want to do it.
So walls stay KM Charro
My new sectional (Mostly paid for by yard sale cash!) won't come in until February 15.  So we are camping out for a while, while we plan and paint and contemplate.

Join me at the end of February for the family room and dining room reveal.  I can guarantee there will be some fun projects to see!  Until then, I will be the one sporting the Swiss Coffee splatters.
xoxo jules

  4. How exciting! I would love to do this but it's a little scary too. Definitely would like the do over wedding, I would change EVERYTHING! My dress was a Princess Diana inspired, cover all skin type of dress with big bows on the shoulders. Mint green and pink were in. You can imagine!

  5. Hi Julia!!! Your family sounds so much like mine...we don't stay anywhere long either, lol! I guess you can say that's how I got into interior decorating! One good thing about moving is...it's not hard giving things away, because you hate having to move it!;-) Can't wait to see it with the furniture! Thanks so much for visiting and linking up! Have a blessed week!;-)

  9. You are so smart to yard sale it all. I like the "minimalist" look you have going on. I am never in the mood to paint walls anymore either! Does "spooge" mean something that could be inappropriate? We always say spooge when we spill food etc... ????? I will change it! Move to Virginia!
